We wanted to make sure this happened, and sometimes the only way to achieve things is making them happen yourself. This is the first volume of 2 albums that will mark an incredible journey Tere and I had in 2023 around the beautiful land of Japan. I felt a very special kind of love and appreciation for these people and their ways of live, and wanted to do something to signify my endless thanks to all the humans involved.
This is like a gift, one of those you make with your hands and that doesn't resemble to anything else out there. A completely DYI album, which means it was recorded by us on the road - gig after gig, when frequent technical and communicational issues allowed it, using a cheap digital recorder -. And upon finishing the trip, in between gigs, many travels around Europe and endless survival street performances, this was edited, mixed and mastered by us for you to be able to listen. We agree, the quality of the audio is not the best. Our Spanish guitars are recorded just through their lines, lacking the enhancing and much needed microphone take, due to the incredible loudness of the performances - many of which took place in underground punk and metal legendary venues -.
But we believe we've made something out of it. The patchy quality of sound is compensated by the liveliness of the performances, and the purity of what is portrayed here is undeniable.
The photo in the cover was taken by Kanon Murakami, whom we met in Tajimi City, as we approached the community center for an unusual but wholesome daytime gig, as well as taking the time to give some guitar lessons to the local music school students.
Non of these would have happened without the stoic - but also maybe on the edge of excessive - effort of our Japanese link and long time collaborator, Yuji Kawaguchi, AKA #stdrums, who passionately organised the incredible amount of 16 concerts around the country, as well as the journeys between them. In spite of the hardships throughout the journey, I will forever be grateful for your efforts.
